The route meanders through the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, one of the best-loved regions of lowland Britain. The path follows the Cotwolds down their western edge with dramatic and far-reaching views across the Severn Vale towards the Welsh hills. Beginning in handsome Chipping Campden, not only does the route explore the sheep-grazed escarpment, it plunges down the scarp slope on numerous occasions to visit the honey-coloured villages and old market towns for which the district is justly famed, and ends in the World Heritage City of Bath.
