What the hell is going on here? James’ mind spun wildly. And what is wrong with these people? He tried to take in the whole island, to learn as much as he could, as the women marched him in handcuffs … to where?
The amazing thing, James realized with a shock, was that none of the women were surprised in the least to see a man in white T-shirt, white short pants and a steel collar being led around by what had to be some kind of leash.
Another thing struck him as very odd: Where were the men?
At first, James was appalled at this society where a thousand women hold all the power and the 150 men are kept as slaves, controlled by drugs and an electronic shock collar, and locked in a dormitory compound except when they are doing their menial, physically demanding jobs. But James is determined to survive long enough to find a way off the island.
